GETTING STARTED:

Gate Communications provides a wide variety of Sign Language classes which collectively total the classes in a full ITP Program. Students can take classes in any or all of the listed subjects. Each class is held at a college level and is available to individuals High School age or above. Youth ages 10 - Junior High can take a modified version of the ASL classes offered. Gate's classes are all private non-accredited Sign Language classes. No classes are offered for college credit, but all do require a passing grade of 75% or above to receive a certificate and move on to the next level. There is no time requirement for completion of courses. All courses are offered at the pace preferred by the student or encouraged by the instructor for the greatest level of success. Students who have previous experience with ASL or in the field of interpreting can be evaluated for advanced placement. All classes are presented one-on-one or in a small private group setting. ASL I is presented in Voice (part 1) and Sign (part 2). ASL II - V are taught in Sign. Interpreting classes are presented in Voice with the exception of Journey into Deafness which is offered in either Voice or Sign. Each class has a final exam for completion.
