TAPIT FINDS OUT MORE ABOUT INTERPRETING FOR FOREIGN DEAF INDIVIDUALS!
Gate was blessed to once again get involved with TAPIT (Tennessee Association of Professional Interpreters & Translators). Gate has spoken at TAPIT conferences for years, and this year Gate provided a simple and practical session teaching people to work with the ever increasing population of Deaf immigrants. If you have any questions about working with Deaf Immigrants, contact the Gate office. Gate has foreign Sign Language resources, and educational workshops to help you prepare for that day when you come face to face with the unique challenge of working with foreign Deaf individuals.
LOOKING AHEAD TO CHRISTMAS...
Gate now works dilligently to provide for the Deaf at Christmas time. If you love Angel Tree programs but want to help Deaf children, please join Gate and take a candle from our HOPE TREE at Christmas time and provide toys and gifts to the children and instructors of Con Mis Manos, a Deaf school in Mexico. These children will likely not receive Christmas gifts without our intervention so please take the time and spend a few dollars to help us help them. The Hope Tree will be at our office after Thanksgiving, and will be also listed on our website. Your sacrifice will help change a child's life.
KEEP AN EYE OUT!
Gate Communications is finalizing our latest DVD, Interpreting Tidbits: LSM. If you have not been introduced to our Interpreting Tidbits DVD series, this educational series preps interpreters and students for new skills in interpreting. The newest DVD was filmed in Mexico at a Deaf school and features Deaf students Signing LSM (Mexican Sign Language) vocabulary. The DVD is in the editing stages. Check back to see the release date.
